The Kenyan e-government
strategy is a major step
towards contribution to
the Millennium Development
Goals (MDGs), in line
with Target 18 of MDG
8, which states, ‘In
co-operation with the
private sector, make available
the benefits of new technologies,
especially information
and communication technologies’.
In pursuit of its vision
to bridge the digital
divide, BaoCom recognizes
the urgent need for a
concerted action at national,
regional and global levels.
To this end, it has been
pursuing wide partnership
in an effort to put ICTs
firmly in the service
of development.
“Our public offices
need support to fully
integrate new technologies
so as to serve the people
more efficiently. At BaoCom
we put Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) at
the centre of our operations
and commit our business
to contribute towards
sustainable development
which adds value and quality
to the lives of those
we trade with,”
observes James Nguo, CEO
BaoCom.
Computerization of the
main government sectors
such as the police and
provincial administration
are key to enhancing service
delivery. The move takes
into account the fact
that ICTs can be applied
to all fields and enrich
the society through enhancement
of capacities at all levels.
